Key initiatives and achievements include:

  • A Professional Development program for Supervisors – Diploma of Leadership & Management;

  • Regular Safety Training conducted – Safe Work at Height, Confined Space, First Aid, Forklift;

  • Implementation of comprehensive safety procedures;

  • Monthly Newsletters – Health Matters, Safety Matters, Rescue Matters

  • Program of area inspections to identify and eliminate hazards

  • On site Emergency Response Teams engaged in regular training;

  • Courses in BG4 breathing apparatus, underground search and rescue, rope rescue, vehicle extrication, fire fighting and HazChem; and

  • Introduction of new equipment and the establishment of a hot fire training area on surface to simulate underground fire fighting.
